South Africa has an impressive peat in Miss World. It is truly remarkable to do this little look back and tribute to Miss South Africa and to the reigning Miss World, Rolene Strauss
Here it is:
South Africa won its first Miss World crown on 1958 via Penelope Anne Coelen.

A year before that, Adele Kruger is a 2nd runner up to Marita Lindahl of Finland (1957)
A year after (that is 1959), Moya Meaker made it in Top 11.
In 1960, Denise Muir placed as 2nd Runner Up to Norma Gladys Cappagli of Argentina
Yvonne Hulley made it in Top 15 in 1961
Yvonne Ficker landed as 3rd Runner up in 1962, where Catharina Lodders of Holland won the crown
In 1966 and 1967, Johanna Maud Carter and Disa Duivestein are both Top 15 Semifinalist.
In 1969, Linda Collet is a top 7 Finalist
In 1970, South Africa had 2 representatives. The White, with the sash of South Africa was Jillian Jessup which ended up 4th Runner up. The Black, with the sash Africa South was Pearl Jansen who peaked as first runner up. Jennifer Hosten of Grenada won the crown.
In 1971, the white, Monica Fairall made it in Top 15
In 1972, the white, Stephanie Reinecke made it in Top 15
In 1973, the white Shelley Latham was 4ht Runner up to Marjorie Wallace of USA (later stripped of title) and the black, Ellen Petters was a Top 15 Semifinalist
In 1974, Anneline Kriel was first runner up but later assumed the title of Miss World 1974, when the orginial winner, Helen Morgan of United Kingdom resigned. The black, Evelyn Williams, was a Top 15 Semifinalist

In 1975, Rhoda Rademeyer is a top 15 semfininalist
In 1991, Diana Tilden-Davis peaked as 2nd Runner Up. Ninibeth Leal of Venezuela won the title.
In 1992, Amy Kleinhans made it in Top 8
In 1993, Palesa Mofokeng is 1st Runner up to Lisa Hanna of Jamaica
In 1994, second year in a row, South Africa is first runner up courtesy of Basetsana Makgalemele. The winner is the magnificent Aishwarya Rai of India
In 1995 and 1996, Bernelee Daniell and Peggy-Sue Khumalo made it as a top 10 Semfinalist
In 1997, Jessica Motaung placed 2nd Runner Up to Diana Hayden of India
In 1998, Kerishnie Naicker is a Top 5 Finalist
In 1999, Sonia Raciti placed 2nd Runner up to Yukta Mookhey of India
In 2001, Jo Ann Strauss (not related to Rolene Strauss) is a top 10 semifinalist
In 2005, Dhiveja Sundrum is a top10 semifinalist
In 2008, Tansey Coetzee is a top 5 Finalist
In 2009, Tatum Keshwar landed 2nd Runner up. Kaiane Aldorino of Gibraltar won the crown.
In 2010, Nicole Flint made it in Top 25 Semifinals.
In 2011, Bokang Montjane made it in Top 7
in 2014, Rolene Strauss represented South Africa in Miss World and at the finals night, she was hailed as the new Miss World.
